Admission requirements
To study as a visiting or an exchange student at Karlshochschule International University, you should have at least one year experience studying business or management. Furthermore, English language skills are essential, and even more important - you as a person!
You? That means your talents, personality and experiences count. But first let’s take a look at the application procedure and requirements for your application:
Application Procedure
Before applying to Karlshochschule International University you need to decide when you want to study abroad. In general, our winter term starts at the beginning of September and runs until the end of February. Our summer term begins on March 1st and ends on August 31st. The application deadline for the winter term is May 31st of each year, for the summer term the deadline is November 30th of each year. In special cases, an application after the deadlines is possible after prior consultation with our International Office.
Application procedure for visiting students
Visiting students can attend Karlshochschule International University for one semester or a full year as non-degree seeking students on a fee-paying basis. They are integrated in the University’s regular program and, in addition, are offered German language courses especially designed for international students. Depending on their language and intercultural skills, they also have the option of taking part in a company project or case study project.
Moreover, we offer customised programs for groups of at least 10 students from the same university.
If you are interested in spending a term abroad at Karlshochschule International University, please submit the following application documents:
1. Application form for visiting students with passport-sized photograph
2. Official university transcript of records
Please ask your home university to provide an official transcript of records, showing all the courses you have taken with their grades. The transcript must be in English, German, French or Spanish and must be issued on official paper, with the institutional seal.
3. Certificate of enrolment of home university
4. Proof of English proficiency
• Level B2 or above according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages or
• IELTS of 6.0 or above or
• Internet-based TOEFL score of at least 80 points
unless English is your native language.

8. If applicable, an APS certificate (for applicants from China, Vietnam and Mongolia)
If you are from China, Vietnam or Mongolia, please submit a certificate from the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS) of your home country with your application.

- Students and applicants for a university place from a third party country (non-EU) have to provide proof that they have capital of € 643 monthly, or € 7,716 per year to cover their living costs. Detailed information is available at internationale-studierende.de.

As soon as your application has been processed and we have ascertained that it meets our formal requirements, we will send you a confirmation of admission.
Application procedure for exchange students
Exchange students attend Karlshochschule International University within the framework of official exchange agreements for one semester or a full year as non-degree seeking students. They are integrated in the University’s regular program and, in addition, are offered German language courses especially designed for international students. Depending on their language and intercultural skills, they also have the option of taking part in a company project or case study project.
Nomination
The exchange applications are handled via the exchange coordinator at the home institution. If you wish to come to Karlshochschule as an exchange student, please contact your home university coordinator first and ask him or her to nominate you per email to our International Office.
The nomination should include the following information:
- Last name, first name
- Gender (male/female)
- Program (Bachelor's Programs)
- Period of stay (winter semester, summer semester or both)
- Student's email address
After you have been formally nominated for a place at Karlshochschule International University by the coordinator of your home university, we will send you information about our courses and ask you to prepare your written application.
A complete exchange application consists of the following documents:
1. Application form for exchange students with passport-sized photograph
2. Official university transcript of records

3. Learning agreement / course list
The learning agreement guarantees that the courses that you attend abroad are recognized by your home institution. It must be signed by the student, the home institution and Karlshochschule. Please submit two signed original copies of the learning agreement with the exchange application.

English test
All exchange students who are not native speakers of English have to pass an English test. The coordinator at the partner university is sent information about the test procedure after your application documents have been submitted. We advise you to take the test as early as possible since the letter of acceptance, which is required for the visa and housing application, will only be issued once you have passed the test.
Acceptance
Once your application has been processed and you have passed the English test, your home university will receive your letter of acceptance and signed learning agreement.
Fees
As a private institution, Karlshochschule International University offers you many advantages: ideal group sizes, modern facilities, personal contact between professors and students –just to mention a few. This is financed by tuition fees.
In the winter term 2012/2013 the tuition fees amount to:
for exchange students: € 0 per semester
for visiting students: € 3,900 per semester
Furthermore, all students have to pay a contribution of € 52.70 per semester to the Karlsruhe student union.
