The specialization Diversity Leadership & Feminism

Diversity is a matter of subsistence for society as well as for organisations, for it is what provides strength and generates resources for them. Internal diversity is an important motor of creativity, innovation and transformation. To this dynamic belong processes of discrimination, conflict and negotiation as well.

Hence, dealing with diversity has two aspects: one related to justice, equity and inclusion; other connected with cooperation, sustainability and performance. The former concerns policies to expose discrimination and dismantle systems of oppression and inequality, the latter focusses on strategies to foster dialog, equality in power relations and distribution of resources, productive collaboration and synergy.

Accordingly, in the first semester of this specialisation you will delve into diversity, inclusion and feminism theories in order to apprehend the social functions of identity and especially collective and intersecting identities (e.g. gender, sexual orientation, age, ability ethnic and cultural background) and be able to identify process of inclusion and exclusion. In the second semester, you will discuss factors of diversity in organisational culture and develop HR perspectives to responsibly deal with them. In the third semester you will model creative and future-oriented concepts of leadership with a view to moderate sustainable processes of transformation to unfold the potential of diversity within organisations and the wide society.

Katja Korschinek, Management (M.A.)

"Through very small groups it is possible to have very intense discussions and it is possible to get a whole lot of new insights and point of views."
