Our understanding of internationality

As an international university, any levels are affected by the international orientation - directly as well as indirectly:

Students' countries of origin:

More than half of Karlshochschule's students come from abroad. Thereby, the origin of the students is distributed very differently over approx. 60 countries worldwide. The top 3 countries - USA, Vietnam and Brazil - are represented by up to 20 students each.

Exchange & Outgoing Students:

All students at Karls spend the 4th or 5th semester at one of more than 120 partner universities worldwide (outgoing students) to gain additional experience abroad and broaden their horizons. The semester abroad offers students the opportunity to enhance their intercultural competence, improve their foreign language skills and get to know a new learning culture. At the same time, students can make international contacts that can help them later in their careers. In return, Karlshochschule receives numerous foreign students from partner universities every semester (exchange students). Through intensive support from the International Office as well as various activities and excursions, the exchange students are integrated into the regular study program and the university community. This promotes intercultural exchange between the students.

Teaching & Research:

The educational content is globally oriented and prepares students for careers in the international job market. English as the language of instruction and additional offerings, e.g. Arabic, Mandarin, Spanish, French, form the linguistic basis for this. Cross-cultural collaboration in teams with teachers from different countries and cultures leads to international experiences directly in the classroom. The worldwide networking of Karlhochschule and the international orientation of teaching and research lead to diverse cooperations, projects, events and international scientific elaborations.

Practice:

The focus of the education is on practical relevance. Various international company projects and a compulsory practical semester - often completed abroad - provide students with a wide range of international practical experience.

Staff:

Whether professors, lecturers or staff - at Karls a great diversity of origin, languages, cultures and experiences abroad is evident.
