Semester abroad at Karlshochschule

I imagine coming to Karlshochschule as an exchange student for my semester abroad. I am so glad I can do my semester abroad at a university where international and intercultural exchanges are so commonplace. I imagine to study at a small university where I get individual support with my application, preparation for my arrival, bureaucratic steps, and orientation upon arrival. During intercultural activities I can easily feel at home in Karlsruhe as well as represent my own culture and university back home.

Course Offers

As exchange student you will be integrated into the regular study programs. An overview of our bachelor programs can be found here. Additionally, to our bachelor programs, we offer different language courses on different levels. We strongly recommend exchange students to join a German course. The German courses will be offered for free during the semester.

Costs

Exchange students coming from our partner universities to Karlshochschule do not have to pay extra tuition fees at Karlshochschule.

Visiting students will have to pay tuition fees.

All students who wish to be enrolled in a German university need to pay the semester fee to the Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe Student Union), which is in charge of public student services and residence halls in Karlsruhe. These services also include psychological counseling, legal counsel, and other services. For more information see Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe. The fee is € 67.70€ per semester and we ask you for the payment during Orientation week.

My way to Karlsruhe

I imagine preparing my study abroad semester at Karlshochschule. Before coming to Karlshochschule there are certain formalities I have to consider, such as having a valid health insurance and a visa. Furthermore, it is important that I search for accommodation in Karlsruhe well in advance. On this site, I find relevant information on what I have to consider before entering Germany. The International Office advices me during my preparation.

Orientation Program

During our orientation program prior to the semester start, the International Office helps you with all bureaucratic steps that need to be done when studying abroad, such as the registration at the city hall, applying for a residence permit, selection of a health insurance or opening a bank account. We will answer all of your questions regarding processes at Karls as well as daily life questions about living in Karlsruhe and Germany. Together with our KarlsBuddies we organize different activities to ensure you feel integrated quickly and will make the most out of your study abroad. Notice: If you start your semester in the Fall term, there will be a whole week of orientation with all new „freshie“ students that start their studies at Karls.

Find all important information on MyKarls and in our Exchange Student Guide.
