Panel Discussion International Week against Racism
Academic culture is characterized by instances of racism, e.g., in teaching, research, appointment policies, access opportunities, assessments, scholarships, competency expectations and the history of many disciplines as well as prejudices, systemic inequalities, power dynamics and overt acts of racist aggression and discrimination.
In our panel discussion between students, lecturers and staff members of color, we want to engage in a (self-) critical reflection on how racism manifests itself in everyday academic life. We want to discuss institutionalized racism within the German university system with a closer look at the Karlshochschule itself and discuss proposals on how to reduce it.
