Robinah Nampanga is the winner of the DAAD prize 2020

Over the years since Ruby started her studies with us, the Karlshochschule has seen her constant engagement and good academic performance within the classroom, but also the effort and motivation she puts in towards activities outside the lectures. She established the “Hakuna Matata” student initiative, which supports both the current and incoming international students and in her lead has grown into a visible and meaningful organization within the university. Furthermore, she has engaged with the local community at many levels, and with the university, on topics related to equality and human rights, showing her commitment to the "KarlsSpirit" and her future profession. Ruby has volunteered to hold numerous presentations for the benefit of other students, and has put her time and effort forth in helping out at a range of events.

We think that not only does she want to make the Karls a better place for the students, but we can clearly see how she goes the extra mile in helping all those around you.

The prize, which is a monetary award of 1.000 Euro, is sponsored by STIBET I funds from the DAAD and the Federal Foreign office. The criteria is based on social engagement and academic performance at the Karls. The decision was given through a process of nomination, by an internal committee of professors and representatives of the faculty. It was awarded on 21.09.2020 during the orientation week.
